On a late October afternoon, I had a wakeup call. Narrowly missing a severe heart attack, I realized how vulnerable life is and how incredibly grateful I am to be here today. As a working wife, mother and grandmother, I am sure most women will agree we are never at the top of our to-do list. I exercise daily, eat as healthy as possible and yet had a shock of a lifetime when I was told that I had a 90% blockage in the main artery of my heart. I learned that heart disease is the number 1 killer of women, claiming more precious lives every year than all forms of cancer combined. This staggering fact has motivated me to use my voice and my story to help remind women all over the world to make their health a priority. This week, I will walk in the American Heart Association, Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection in honor of all women who have lost their lives, those who are currently battling heart disease and all the fearless survivors. No one should have to die of a heart attack – they just need to listen to their symptoms and act on them. My hope in telling my story is that I can help at least one wife, mother, sister and friend. ❤️ #goredforwomen @goredforwomen @goodmorningamerica @people #Thank you so very much, GMA and People Magazine for helping me to get this message on heart health out to women!!! ❤️❤️❤️

The 72-year-old soap opera legend felt tired with a tightness in her chest for the first time. To overcome the pain, she talked to herself consolating;

 “It’s nothing, it will go away”

In addition, after 10 days of her first sign, she felt a radiating pain around her rib cage. But, scared this time, she felt that her health rattled physically and mentally. Also, prior to her treatment, while shopping at the Tory Burch boutique in Manhasset, Long Island on October 23, the worthy woman felt like a huge elephant pressing her heart.

With two red flags including her chest and back pain, she got admitted to the hospital by the kind store manager. For the confirmation of her safe health, Susan consulted with a cardiologist, Dr. Shlofmitz Anderson. Furthermore, after the doctor’s reaffirmation to Lucci’s scare, she asked the doctor how her actual heart is. Dr. Anderson replied;

‘Your heart is like the heart of a 20-year-old,’”

Lucci dissed that she actually believed the doctor as he answered her question, three times in a row. Be that as it may, hadn’t she been conscious about her health, it may have been her ticket to deathbed.

Well, now she is normal back again and even relishes her beautiful life. Moreover, Lucci admits that she feels lucky to be alive after an emergency heart procedure.

Now as a national volunteer and spokesperson, Lucci uses her heart and voice to raise awareness.

We often put ourselves on the back burner. But if your body is telling you something, we need to pay attention.

After the survival, her heart now pumps as of the childhood Susan, who now wills to share her survival stories. To her awareness, she mainly focuses on prevention that is better than a cure.
