Death of Tom Petty
On Monday, October 2, 2017, Tom Petty was found unconscious at his home, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest. After that, his relatives resuscitated him to the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, California, where he died at 8:40 pm.
Later, on January 19, 2018, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner announced that Petty died accidentally from mixed drug toxicity.
On September 28, 2018, the widowed York further revealed Petty also had several other medical problems such as; emphysema, knee difficulties and most significantly a fractured hip.
