He published the proof that if the university obeys the general theory of relativity and if any of the models get fit in physical cosmology which was developed by Alexander Friedmann then it must begin as a singularity, in 1970. He was appointed to Sherman Fairchild Distinguished visiting professorship at California Institute of Technology in the same year and later in 1975.He returned to Cambridge as a reader in gravitational physics.

He also moved to the study of quantum mechanics and quantum gravity in the year 1973.He proposed a piece of information in 1981 that the black hole is irretrievably lost when hole evaporates.

Stephen Hawking pursued work in physics in the year 1993 with Gary Gibbons, he co-edited a book on Euclidean quantum gravity and also published his own articles on Big Band and black holes.
