Noble graduated from North Texas State University in 1953. Subsequently, he joined Baylor University and graduated from there with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. Noble also served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Talking about his career, he was a teacher at Sam Houston High School teaching Economics before he pursued acting as his career. He auditioned for the part of Chester in the 1971 movie The Last Picture Show and landed the part. 

Willingham also involved in politics in 2000, he was the Republican challenger in the northeast Texas 1st congressional district election against Democratic congressman Max Sandlin, losing to Sandlin in a landslide.

Noble died in his sleep at Palm Springs, California, the USA on January 17, 2004. His resting place is Riverside National Cemetery.
