Crouching Tiger was my first audition. … To be honest, I was pushed. I was just studying, and I was in the University in Sydney, which is where I’m from. Then, my agent – my now-agent – she is a boutique model/actor agent in Sydney, and she scouted me for modeling. And I was like, “I’m very busy, I’m studying I don’t think I have time for that.” And I just didn’t have much interest in it.
Anyhow, the boutique agent convinced Natasha of her acting ability which matched the role the movie director was in search of for her new film, and she was selected as the fittest contestant turned actress for the movie, and the boutique agent got to be the trending actress’s Hollywood agent.
What were her Parent’s expectations?
Like Natasha, her parents also had never thought she would join the movie industry when she chose martial arts out of the two options they had for her. But the two options Natasha’s parents had given her were – martial arts or dance, and Natasha was not preferably going to do the ballet.
My parents basically said to me, “You can to martial arts or you can do dance – choose.” And I was always a tomboy, so I said of course I’d rather do martial arts. I was like, “Please, I’m not doing ballet.”
