Kandi was really eager to spend the rest of her life with the man she loved until a tragedy hit her on October 2009. Ashley had winded himself in a fight with Fredrick Richardson at the Atlanta strip club.

The brawl started at the parking lot but ended tragically in the hospital bed. After getting a severe blow in the head, AJ was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors couldn’t save his life. Richardson, who was also taken to the hospital for injuries from the fight, was later arrested charged with voluntary manslaughter.

The news left Kandi stunned and speechless. She was devastated to lose her fiancé. She later posted on her twitter that she needed some alone time to cope with her loss. But she is now sober and happily ever after.

Kandi Burruss started off as a singer in the music group, Xscape. And released Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha on October 12, 1993. The group later disbanded in 1998 after releasing a few hit records. But they reunited again later. The group followed a few more ups and downs until Kandi decided that she didn’t want to be a part of the group anymore.

Burrus then started a solo career in writing and producing her own songs. She wrote a few songs like Bills, Bills, Bills. In 2000, she won an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Songwriter of the Year award.

The same year, she released her debut album ‘Hey Kandi…‘ with her single Don’t Think I’m Not. The song hit 72 on the top US Billboards.

Burruss joined the reality show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta in March 2009. She replaced DeShawn Snow on the second season of the reality show. Her fame rose after her addition to the show and became one of the significant characters in the show.
