Selleck was a 38-year-old divorcé filming in London when his coworkers noticed he started an obsession with the musical, Cats. He spent night after night in the West End, continuously telling fellow Lassiter star Jane Seymour how great the show was.

It, however, turned out, Selleck was falling hard for the 25-year-old Jillie Joan Mack, who at the time was playing Rumpleteazer. A dinner date blossomed into romance. Soon after, Mack contract’s expiration, she moved to Hawaii. In between, Selleck was filming Magnum, P.I., Mack then began appearing on Selleck’s side everywhere from the Emmys red carpet to his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction in 1986.

Selleck and Jillie became partners in 1987 or so the year they decided to go public as a fiancé and fiancée. On Aug. 7 that year, Selleck and Mack said “I do” in a late-evening ceremony in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, under the aliases “Tom Jenkins” and “Suzie Mark.” The minister didn’t know the couple’s true identity until minutes before the service and Selleck ordered to only Polaroid pictures of the marriage so photos from negatives remained safe from the press.

The couple welcomed their first and only child, daughter Hannah Margaret Selleck the following year. Jillie is also the stepmother to Kevin Selleck. Kevin is from Selleck’s first marriage to model Jacqueline Ray, which lasted 10 years.
