The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is the second season of the FX true crime anthology television series American Crime Story. The season premiered on January 17, 2018, and will consist of a total of 9 episodes.
It explores the murder of designer, Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, based on Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History.
The Venezuelan born actor has nailed the role of the sensitive and artistic Italian designer who was gunned down by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in 1997. And in the February/March issue of Haute Living, the 41-year-old actor said he senses like Versace’s influence can still be felt today. César Award winner said:
“What Versace did, the impact that he had on the history of fashion and culture, is undeniable.”
And he also added that Versace’s over-the-top style gave way to the flashiness of the Kardashians and the Hadid’s.
“Right now, we live – for better or worse – in a time that was shaped by Gianni Versace.”
Ramirez added: “The culture of bling, the exacerbation of fame, the picture of cinema and fashion, and fame and celebrity is something Gianni helped to create.”
Versace used stars like Princess Diana, Elton John, Madonna and Cher to get his name out.

He graduated in mass communication at the “Catholic University” Andres Bello in Caracas, where he was actively involved with political journalism, and also served as executive director for “Ngo Dale al Voto,” an organization that engaged young people to register to vote and takes part in the electoral process.
He started acting after following the advice of Guillermo Arriaga, a writer he had met in Mexico. Ramirez landed his acting debut on Venezuelan television, appearing on the soap operas “Cuando llega el Amor” (Televisa S.A. de C.V., 1990) and “Cosita Rica” (Venevision, 2003-04).
In 2010, Ramirez started his breakthrough role when he was cast as Ilich Ramirez Sanchez in “Carlos.” His remarkable acting performance as the convicted terrorist earned him Best Actor nominations at 2011, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Golden Globes and the Emmys, the first such honors of his career.
