On October 16, 2009, he started his journey in MMA and made his debut as an amateur at LSAMMA. Then later in 2010, he fought Tim Buchanan at the United States American Combat Association event.
In May 2010, after signing the contract with Bellator Fighting Championship, Lewis had a match against Thiago Santos at Bellator 45, but the match didn’t take place, and later he faced Tony Johnson at Bellator 46 on June 25, 2011.
